Adoration
God is worthy of our praise! For the next few days, we’ll focus on praising God and remembering who He is and what He’s done!
It’s easy to forget who you are talking to when you pray, so let’s remember the Lord alone is worthy of our praise and worship
DAY 1
God is good, and His love and faithfulness never ends. As you pray these truths, praise God that His goodness, unfailing love and faithfulness is for you.
Psalm 128:5 ” For the LORD is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. ”
DAY 2
God has given you everything you need to live a life of faith, and this has been His plan for you since before the world was created. Worship Him as you rest in the fact that He’s given you all you need for your spiritual life in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:3-4 ” Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. ”
DAY 3
God alone is worthy of your worship! If you are able, physically bow or kneel down as you pray today, acknowledging that He is the great King above anyone else.
Psalm 95:3&6 ” For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! ”
DAY 4
You have peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Praise God today that He took the initiative to give you access to this grace, and ask God to let this joy fill your life today.
Romas 5:1-2 ” Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of our God. ”
DAY 5
Focus on speaking words of praise to God offered as a sacrifice to Him all day today. Acknowledge His name – who He is and what He’s done for you – continually throughout today.
Hebrews 13:15 ” Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name. ”
Confession
For the next few days we’ll learn how to listen to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and to confess any sin in our lives. This is a constant, ongoing process, but when we confess our sins our ability to listen to God and grow in Christ comes alive!
DAY 6
There is no sin that you can ever commit that is beyond the forgiveness and cleansing God offers you in Jesus Christ. Ask God to reveal specific sins in your life, confess them to him and claim the cleansing he provides for you.
1 John 1:9 ” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ”
DAY 7
When we sin, we need God’s mercy. Ask God for mercy as you confess thoughts, attitudes and actions that are sinful. Read (and even memorize) this verse to remind you that you are washed completely when you confess sin.
Psalm 51:1-2 ” Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! ”
DAY 8
Recognizing and owning your sin is a critical part of your spiritual growth. Humbly admit to God today this spiritual reality… you need God to help you battle sin today.
Isaiah 6:5 ” And I said: ‘Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!’ ”
DAY 9
If God held all your sins against you, you would be doomed. But God’s forgiveness granted to you changes everything! Thank God for His grace and forgiveness, and ask God to grow your faith as you learn to live in His grace.
Psalm 130:3-4 ” If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. ”
DAY 10
You need others to help you overcome sin. Ask God to show you at least one trustworthy person you can be completely honest with, and invite them to pray with you in your battle against sin today.
James 5:16 “ Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. ”
Thanksgiving
Practicing gratitude is an overlooked part of growing in prayer. Just like only one of the ten lepers Jesus healed in Luke 17 returned to Jesus to say thank you, we often miss the opportunities to say thank you to the Lord. For the next few days, let’s focus on expressing gratitude and thankfulness to God.
DAY 11
Gratitude can be hard to come by if you base it upon your circumstances. Ask God to you at least one reason to be thankful, no matter what you are facing right now. Express your thankfulness to God.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ” Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ”
DAY 12
No matter how you feel right now, you have a huge reason to be thankful. Thank God that He delivered you from the power of darkness and transferred you into the kingdom of His Son, Jesus. You’ve been set free!
Colossians 1:12-14 ” Giving thanks to the Father, you has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. ”
DAY 13
No matter what challenges you face, gratitude is a matter of perspective, choice, and grace. Ask God to change your perspective and attitude today until you are filled with gratitude. No matter how you may feel, you are incredibly blessed in Jesus Christ!
2 Corinthians 6:10 ” as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. ”
DAY 14
Worry consumes and destroys, but gratitude brings peace. As you pray, look for specific ways you can express gratitude to God. Then rest in the peace He provides as you trust Him.
Philippians 4:6-7 ” Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known by God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ”
DAY 15
Pause before you pray today, and ask God to fill you with thankfulness. Listen to a worship song and make a joyful noise! Thank God that He uses music to constantly remind you He’s worthy of our gratitude.
Psalm 95:2 “ Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! ”
Supplication
God invites you to ask Him to meet your needs in prayer. For the next few days, we’ll learn how to ask God for help with our needs and requests. Don’t hesitate to ask God and then trust Him as He answers your prayer!
DAY 16
In everything, let your requests be made known to God. Everything! There is nothing too small or too big to ask God. Ask God to meet your specific needs and trust Him with His answer.
Philippians 4:6-7 ” Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ”
DAY 17
Prayer reminds us that God knows our needs and He alone is our help in times of need. As you share your burdens with Him today, take confidence that He is good and He knows your needs.
Nahum 1:7 ” The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him. ”
DAY 18
God has answers to problems that we don’t even know we have, and He’s able to do more than we could ever imagine! As you pray today, remember this about God: He is able to do more than you can ever dream of, so confidently ask God to move!
Ephesians 3:20-21 ” Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. ”
DAY 19
God always hears your prayers. He always answers your prayers. Ask God for faith to trust His answers to your prayers and to remember He truly knows best. Trust His answers today, even if it’s not exactly what you expected.
Isaiah 30:19 ” For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as He hears it, He answers you. ”
DAY 20
God wants us to grow in our faith each day. Pray that you would know His will, and grow in wisdom and discernment. Pray this for others that God brings to your mind today.
Colossians 1:9 “ And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, ”
DAY 21
When you are worried, you’ve just found a great moment to experience God’s faithfulness and love for you. As you pray, pour out your worries and anxiety to God. Tell Him exactly what’s in your heart, and let His care for you remind you that you can trust Him today.
1 Peter 5:7 “ casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. ”
