Dear Bayside Family,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions as we move toward coming back together for worship on the church campus. We have prayerfully and thoughtfully considered many options as to how we can continue to be the church and respect the spiritual and physical needs of our church family. We understand and appreciate the desire to be together as well as the caution that some individuals are required to use due to medical/health concerns. Ultimately we want to love and honor the Lord with everything that we do now and in the days ahead. Matthew 22:37 — And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” With this in mind, we want to share our current plans to move forward, knowing that there is still a potential for change as time progresses.
Sunday Morning Worship will continue to be streamed online for anyone who would prefer to worship from home. Beginning May 31, we will begin having 3 Morning Worship Services on campus (2 in the Sanctuary and 1 in the Student Center). In order to accommodate social distancing, we will need to limit attendance in the Sanctuary to 350 people at each of the two services and the Student Center service will be limited to 75 people. We would like to invite those whose last name begins with the letters AàM to attend the 8:30 AM service in the Sanctuary and those whose last name begins with the letters NàZ to attend the 10:30 AM service in the Sanctuary. Upon arrival for church, we are asking everyone to enter through the Sanctuary front doors or Student Center side stairwell door. Doors will be propped open, we will have people stationed at both of these entrances to quickly check your temperature (and will ask anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher to worship from home), we will also have hand-sanitizer and masks available for anyone who would be more comfortable or prefer to wear a mask. There will be 4 sets of restrooms open and available for each service. The upper/front parking lot will be reserved for handicap parking only and encourage you to drop off anyone who may have mobility restrictions before parking. At the conclusion of the service, a staff member will strategically dismiss the room one section at a time and ask that everyone exit the building moving everyone in the same direction. To help make this as safe a transition as possible, all open areas – including door handles, hand rails, restrooms, seats, etc. will be sanitized between services.
Small Group/Bible Studies – several classes have begun to meet online and we want to encourage you to continue doing so until we are able to add additional meetings and groups back on campus. The Small Group Bible Study that has been on Facebook Live will continue to be live streamed at 9:00 AM each week. Please know that even if you are a part of the 8:30 AM Worship service group, you can still go online to Facebook and watch the Small Group lesson as it will be recorded on Bayside’s Facebook page. At this time, we do not think it is wise to resume group gatherings in smaller classrooms, but will continue to work toward adding that back into the weekly plans.
BKids (Children’s Ministry) – Children’s Lessons will continue to be uploaded to the website, Facebook, and Instagram. In order to protect and guard the health of both children and our BKids teachers, Children’s Worship, Nursery, Small Groups, AWANA, and WALK will resume at a later date. We want to continue to share the gospel with the community through VBS even under the current circumstances by doing a Virtual/Online Vacation Bible School June 8-12. We will have a Virtual Opening Assembly with all the cheers, pledges, songs, and videos just as if we were in the building. Bible Study, Music, Missions, and the gospel will be taught, recorded and posted with easy access at BaysideBaptist.org. Join us in praying that children will participate in Virtual Vacation Bible School and will enter into a personal relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior. WALK will be having their first ever Summer Music Camp the week of July 13-17 allowing those children to complete preparations for their musical, and will present “Back to the Beginning” on Sunday evening, July 19.
BSM (Student Ministry) – Student and College Small Groups are studying the book of “Judges” using an online study through Right Now Media. Each Wednesday evening, MSM meets via Zoom at 6:45 PM and HSM meets via Zoom at 7:15 PM. Then at 8:00 PM all students are able to join in for ‘Youth Group at Home.’ PrayZChoir has been rehearsing via Zoom and is planning to present their musical “Equipped for War” online Sunday, June 7 at 6:00 PM. Please plan to join the live stream that evening!
We know this is a lot of information to process and we encourage you to spend time seeking the Lord’s direction as to how He is leading you/your family to return to church either on May 31 or at some point in the future. We love you and look forward to worshipping together with you in the weeks ahead.
In His Service,
Bayside Baptist Church Staff
